The Forgotten Roses

I had a lot of roses but I had to give them up when I moved. I lost Double Delight, angel, and one more but I forgot the name. Double Delight rose had big blossom, bi-color: red and white, the smell is delightful, the tree is up right and vigorous, and the leaves were dark green. The Angel face rose bloom was purple, smell of strong citrus, and the petals could with stand the heat of the dessert. The rose was more of spreading habit and grew straight up. There was one more rose but I could not recall what was its name.
I brought Abraham Darby, David Austin's rose, apricot, yellow, and tint of pink. The pinker and/or richer the apricot color the stronger the fragrance of rich fruity and spicy--a little. The more yellow the blossom the less fragrance it has. Another rose is Crystallize rose which has high point white--almost pure white-- bloom which barely has any scent. Sweet Honey rose does smell like its name. I forgot the last rose name but by looking at the right you can see that it is beautiful as it has a slight sweet scent that is hard to detect.

I ordered the rose on Wednesday. They only ship rose on Monday weekly so I requested Monday, May 11, 2010 for my roses to be shipped by UPS Priority Mail. I just got them this morning.

Crested Damask™

This is a compact, relaxed shrub growing about 4 feet wide and 3 feet tall, with dark green foliage. The blooms are borne in clusters of 3 to 5 in great profusion for about 5 weeks in early Summer. Each bloom is pure OGR: 3.5 inch shallow cups of over 100 petals each, in a rich raspberry-pink hue with a button eye at the center.

Gloire de Guilan

The fragrance does seem to increase as the petals dry, so I would think it excellent in potpourri as well. I love the slight irregularity of the petals which add a certain windblown quality. It blooms long and profusely on a healthy, modest size plant.

Ispahan I hope that since it is a damask type of rose that it will have strong fragrant unlike the rating; otherwise, I will be truly very disappointed.

Botzaris

For many, 'Botzaris' may be preferable to 'Mme. Hardy' as the shrub is smaller and more compact, growing to no more than 5 feet tall under most circumstances. The blooms of 'Botzaris' are snow white, with just a hint of red on the guard petals, most visible in the bud. The fragrance, as could be expected, is wonderfully rich; typical Damask. Individual blooms are about 3 inches in diameter, cupped and packed full of petals that withstand wet weather admirably."

Clytemnestra

This is a lax and spreading Hybrid Musk that is easily grown as a climber. The blooms are in clusters similar to Cornelia, but more yellow and apricot in tone than that rose. The petals pale and quill as they age.

I have a problem with Zephirine Drouhin rose which as you see the picture on the right. It has a very darken rotten looking stem as the main body; therefore, I am not sure whether or not it will survive any longer than my other own root rose from Jackson and Perkins rose. I guess that I have to take some more picture and send to the company and complain about it before they will not take my word for it. I will let you know how all of my roses doing and what exactly the fragrant is like. I have to re-pot them today. I wanted to walk with my girls later if that is possible. They are getting used to have a regular walk recently.

A Lot of Sunshine

It was a beautiful day! There was a little windy and lot of sunshine but not too hot. I did lot of watering for the plants. I brought lots of roses from last year and they, finally, were put to the ground for a better life. I am the only one to water, weed, and care for them. I will get lots of roses coming but they will not be put to the ground because my backyard is just beginning to have some work put to it. I was promised to have a nice organized yard by summer of this year, but all I got was a yard full of poops and smelly from the spoil rotten pooches. If I skip to water the plants for one day, they will droop and not happy. If no water the next day, they look like they are dying. By the way, I live in the desert. Would you believe that I spend thousand of dollars on just plants every year? I do not even have a big yard or much space. I love plants and I have green thumb which only work if I have time to water and weed them. I suppose that I rarely fertilize any of my plants after I put them on the ground so I guess that was why the bloom was not as big as the store. One thing though I put lot of good fertilize when I put plant in the ground. I still see that not all of the fertilize dissolve over time so the plant still have good stuff in there. They just need a little more to make the bloom as big as store brought flower.
